Welcome to Kalenik's Wooden Wonders!
Just like many people I know, my first experience turning a bowl was in high school wood shop. I never forgot the enjoyment I found from taking a piece of wood and shaping it into something that is both decorative and useful.

I worked as a park ranger for the National Park Service and the state of California and I am currently the president of The Clayton Area Historical Association. I have been in Idaho for the last 25 years. Like most people in retirement I needed a hobby. So, to make a long story short I have been turning bowls, boxes, rolling pins and other items.
handmade wood bowls
I work with over 30 different kinds of native and exotic woods. A windstorm blew down a tree on our place so I cut up part of it and made a bowl out of it. I will make solid bowls, but I prefer to create eye catching creations from various kinds of wood that are both one of a kind and unique. Because of their beauty I prefer to make segmented bowls from various kinds of woods. Check out our latest award!

All of my works are treated with Watco Oil, lacquered and wax buffed. The insides are finished with mineral oil and are safe for foods.

My wife and I make our home in the heart of Idaho. We may be off the beaten path but we are as close as your computer. Special orders are available we are just a phone call or an email away. Take a look at our lets shop page to view some of my creations available for purchase.
